BENUE COMMISSIONER'S KIDNAPPERS DEMAND N60 million

Image
By Tahav Agerzua The gunmen who kidnapped Benue State Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mathew Abo, last Sunday in Zaki-Biam, have demanded a ransom of N60 million. The abductors made the demand today in a phone call to a member of the family. The recipient of the call who pleaded anonymity for security reasons stated that the kidnappers have resorted to torturing the commissioner to press home their demand. The source said they called and placed their phone on loud so that their beating of the commissioner and his cries for help could be heard. We earlier made the report of this abduction {https://jessevich.blogspot.com/2023/09/gunmen-abduct-benue-information.html} The Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Alia condemns the abduction, so do I. What an irony: your brother is made Commissioner and the best you can do is kidnap him?  Kidnapping is a social ill and nobody should be involved in it.  To curb it, let Government offer kidnappers amnesty and train them in...

Turning Life's Lemons into Refreshing Lemonades

Image
King Jessevich This life is full of twists and turns, ups and downs, ins and outs and not all of them are sweet. Just when you think everything is going smoothly, a sour lemon can be thrown your way. These lemons come in various forms – unexpected setbacks , personal challenges , or even global crises . But what sets resilient individuals apart is their ability to turn these sour lemons into sweet, refreshing lemonades . Here we go: Embrace Resilience Resilience is the cornerstone of making lemonades out of life's lemons. It's the ability to bounce back from adversity, to adapt to change, and to find strength in the face of challenges. Instead of letting life's lemons weigh you down, consider them as opportunities for personal growth and transformation. Shift Your Perspective One of the first steps in making lemonades is to shift your perspective. Instead of dwelling on the negative aspects of a situation, try to find the silver lining. ...

Guarding your kids in the face of kidnappers King Jessevich. As we flow through MBER Months  Keeping kids safe from kidnappers is a top priority for parents and guardians.  Just two days ago (Sunday 24th September, 2023), two kids from one family disappeared close to Saint Peter's Catholic Church Wurukum Makurdi, a development that is tormenting to the parents, friends and the entire Makurdi. The kids in the picture with yellow indications namely: Philomena kpaakpa (girl) 4years and Benedict Kpaakpa (boy) 2years were the victims.  Here are some important tips to help protect children: 1. FROZEN Money: the Miasma of Benue Development

Image
King Jessevich Since the inception of the incumbent administration in Beñue State, His Excellency Rev. Dr. Hyacinth Alia announced that all government bank accounts were frozen . Invariably, it means that government money has been piling up to the ceiling, frozen and untouched. So, One would be right to say that Beñue now has so much money that is safely stashed in frozen accounts like ice cream. No more talks of paucity of funds, diversion of money, in fact, there is just nothing to worry about. But the unfortunate problem is: as the money piles up, so are the challenges of the state. As the money freezes like ice fish , so are the people freezing in life threatening problems such as poor feeding, piled up rent, non payment of school fees, health challenges etc. One thing is certain, piled up frozen money doesn't translate into deleting hardship, except the money is judiciously spent to pay off bills, buy food and medication, or...
