Benue EXCO: See what they did in the state

The Benue State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting was held on Thursday, September 21st, 2023 and some resolutions were made and revealed.

Two issues caught my attention: one thrilled me, the other puzzled me.

Newsmen were briefed at Government House, Makurdi, by The Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Fidelis Bemsen Mnyim and the Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals, Barr. Martins Shaagee, read out the Exco resolutions as follow:

• Council approved a land measuring 150 hectares located opposite Alfred Akawe Polytechnic, along Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi road for the Navy to establish their barrack, primary and secondary school and a hospital, as well as other facilities.
Council approved the restructuring of some ministries. The restructured ministries which are 17 in number are:
1. Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
2. Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy.
3. Ministry of Power and Transport.
4. Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
5. Ministry of Cooperatives, Urban and Rural Development.
6. Ministry of Education and Knowledge Management.
7. Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning.
8. Ministry of Justice and Public Order.
9. Ministry of Energy, Science and Technological Innovation.
10. Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare.
11. Ministry of Works and Housing.
12. Ministry of Youth, Sports and Creativity.
13. Ministry of Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change.
14. Ministry of Agriculture.
15. Ministry of Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals.
16. Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism
17. Ministry of Health and Human Services.

I say Well done to The Alia led State Executive Council.

But let me ask... won't it be better to build a Naval Barracks in GUMA or GWER WEST, where security is at the ebb? Makurdi already has too many military Barracks.
