N25k: BENUE Deserves it
"For the next six months, the average low-grade worker shall receive an additional Twenty-Five Thousand Naira per month".
That was a magnanimous declaration President Bola Tinubu made on Independence Day, to show his concern for the financial plight of his work force.
For many audience, especially Civil Servants who heard the 25 thousand Naira pay bonus for six months, that is the most memorable point of the presidential speech.
In my view, this gesture is applaudable and replicable in Benue State, considering that Benue workers are long overdue for a wage increase, and this is one of the questions on their lips.
Moreso, Benue Government shares the same political mission of good governance, equity and fairness with the Federal Government under the All Progressives Congress (APC) dispensation.
So, if His Excellency Hyacinth Alia's promises of enhanced welfare for Benue Civil Servants are for real, it is expected that N25, 000 be paid to the workers within the same period.
After all, both Federal and State workers buy from the same markets and pay the same rates as bills.
Governor Alia should not hesitate to wipe the tears of Civil Servants, who had suffered greatly in the hands of his predecessor.
