Alia needs to answer these questions from Civil Servants.
It has been one hundred and a few days since His Excellency Rev. Dr. Hyacinth Alia became the Executive Governor of Beñue State on 29th May, 2023.
Civil Servants where overwhelmed with his ascension and have been asking questions that bear on their welfare, having suffered over the past years.
Here are some of the questions they've been asking:
1. When is Alia paying salary arrears? They want to know when His Excellency will pay them salary arrears of many months, since that was one of the governor's promises.
2. Will Alia pay leave bonus? For over 15 years leave bonuses have eluded the govt workforce. So, they want to know if the government will resume payment of leave allowances.
3. Does Alia care about housing for Civil Servants? Civil Servants no longer have quarters to live in, and are asking if Alia will provide housing units for them.
4. What will Alia do about payment of minimum wage? Many states have implemented minimum wages for their work force, leaving Beñue behind. This, they want to know if the Government of Alia will step up their wages to the minimum level.
5. Is Alia giving them palliative money? The removal of subsidy on petroleum has worsened the living conditions of all Nigerians, including Civil Servants. So, they are hoping and asking if Alia will give them a share of the palliative package.
6. Will Alia sponsor training of Civil Servants? Training of Civil Servants has been elusive or on a self sponsorship level for many years now. To this end, workers are asking if Alia will give them frequent trainings to improve their performances.
7. What motivational measures will Alia put in place? Worker are asking about how the governor will motivate them to work optimally and satisfactorily.
